Your brow lift may be performed under general or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. Depending on your unique condition and requirements, the surgeon may perform your brow lift surgery using one of these techniques:
- Lateral Brow Lift: The surgeon makes an incision within the hairline just above your temples to access the outer areas of the brow. This technique is for patients with visible forehead sagging and crow’s feet.
- Trichophytic Lift: The surgeon makes an incision directly along the hairline, thus facilitating more dramatic results. This technique is suitable for patients with severe sagging but only if the patient has a low risk of hairline recession, which would reveal the incision mark.
- Endoscopic Lift: The surgeon makes numerous small incisions beyond the hairline, following which a slender tube with a camera is pushed through. The endoscope allows the surgeon to visualize the internal structure of the brow and make the necessary adjustments.
You may experience swelling, tenderness, numbness, and bruising around the forehead after your brow lift surgery. The surgeon will administer some antibiotics and pain medications, which you must take regularly. The side effects will gradually dissipate over several weeks. You can resume light activities and work within a few days, but strenuous workouts should be avoided for a few weeks. The endoscopic brow lift technique usually involves minimal downtime compared to traditional techniques.
